X FACTOR’s Honey G has denied forgetting the lyrics to Missy Elliott’s Get Ur Freak On during a live performance on Monday’s Good Morning Britain.
The North London rapper performed the hit song while making her way through the studio ahead of her interview.
Despite appearing to lose her flow between lines, the star has revealed she was simply performing her own re-worked version of the track.
During the performance, the rapper remained silent between the lines 'I know you dig the way I sw-sw-switch my style' and 'people sing around' while waving her arms awkwardly as the music continued to play in the background.
However, she has since told The Sun: "I did not forget the words to the Missy track on Good Morning Britain. The version was the edit I performed on X factor."
As she found her flow again, Kate Garraway interrupted: “Oh my goodness me, here she comes!”
The X Factor star was on the breakfast TV show to promote her debut single, The Honey G Show, which is out on Friday.
She explained: “The official offer from Simon Cowell’s record label Syco came through over the last week and I’m really happy about that. I’m really happy Simon’s backing me.
"I asked Simon if he liked the single and he told me he loved it!
"My career in IT recruitment is over – which is something I’m very, very, pleased about."
Honey G, real name Anna Gilford, also revealed her struggles at constantly staying in character.
Talking about her iconic sunglasses and black cap combination, she said: "Having the glasses and hat on all the time sometimes gives me a bit of a headache.
"I take them off if I’m on my own at my flat or something."
