A WOMAN has revealed that she gave her ugly patio and stairs a stunning upgrade and claimed that it was so easy, anyone can do it.
So if you want to spruce up your garden in time for summer, then you’ll need to listen up.
DIY fan Roisin, from Australia, took to TikTok, where she posts under the username @geebungalow, to show off her stair and patio transformation.
Roisin shared her clip with the caption ‘If you're worried about it being sharp on your feet….the edges of the tiles are covered by the grout just like regular tiling!’
At the start of the clip, Roisin shared what her stairs and patio looked like before she got to work - chipped, dirty and dull, it was clear that they needed some love, and fast.
Roisin got to work and said: “This DIY is almost impossible to stuff up, so even if you’re a total beginner, I think that you’ll be able to nail it.

“The technique is called ‘crazy paid’ and it’s a take on the traditional European method, but using porcelain tile instead of stone.
“So I just put a towel or a placemat over the tiles and break them up and then you end up with these little pieces, kind of like mosaics.
“Then I’m laying the glue on and the key is to lay lots of larger pieces - if you have all small pieces it looks really mosaic-y and doesn’t really give you the effect you’re looking for.
“The stairs were tricky and I had to tape the vertical edges and then once it was dry overnight I used a wide joint grout.”

As she showed off the finished result, she added: “It was super easy.
“Use gloves because it ruins your hands and makes them really dry.
“And then this is how it turned out in the end.
“Beautiful, love how it looks.
“Make sure that the tiles that you use have an outdoor slip grade rating so that when it gets wet it doesn’t get slippery.”
Thanks to Roisin’s DIY job, her patio and tiles were given a mega upgrade, without having to pay thousands to get the experts in.
