Leicester squad cancel flight plans and will take coach to Cardiff game out of sensitivity to helico

LEICESTER CITY have scrapped their plans to fly to Saturday's Premier League clash with Cardiff and will drive their instead, according to reports.

It is understood the Foxes were due to fly from East Midlands Airport to South Wales for the game.

But according to the Mail, the Leicester squad and staff agreed this would be insensitive following the tragic death of owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four others in the helicopter crash on Saturday night.

Instead, Claude Puel and the squad will take the team bus for the three-hour journey on Friday.

Senior executives suggested the change, which was then backed by everyone else at the club.

Leicester's Carabao Cup tie against Southampton was due to take place last night but was understandably postponed.

But as new footage of the chopper before the crash emerged,  the club confirmed yesterday that this weekend's game would go ahead as scheduled.

Players will wear black armbands and a minute's silence will be held in honour of Srivaddhanaprabha.

The owner's son and vice-chairman Aiyawatt, known as Top, is not expected to travel to Cardiff for the game.

It is believed he will instead be travelling back to Thailand for repatriation of his father's body ahead of the funeral.

Top may well be in attendance for Leicester's next home game, against Burnley, on November 10.

The match coincides with the Remembrance fixture.
