A BELGIAN shopping centre has been evacuated after "several men" brandishing Kalashnikovs attempted to rob a jeweller before going on the run in a stolen vehicle, Belgian media reported.
The Cora shopping centre in Chatelineau, around 35 miles south of Brussels, was evacuated after a man reportedly fired shots inside the Histoire d'Or store.

Witnesses said two explosions were heard during the hold-up, but nobody was injured.
Mayor Daniel Vanderlick told RTL: "Shots were fired with a Kalashnikov."
Meanwhile, police spokesman Eric De Brabander told television channel RTBF: "When the shop opened, three masked men attacked the staff with heavy weapons. They took the stolen goods in a vehicle fitted with stolen registration plates.



"No one was injured but the staff are in shock."
Police have said there is no suggestion of links to terrorism.
Belgium has been on high alert since bombings in Brussels Airport and the city's metro system killed 32 people in March.
